Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal will pay an official visit to India from May 31 to June 3, foreign ministries of both countries announced on Saturday.
This is Prime Minister Dahal’s first official foreign visit since assuming office in December last year.
Issuing a press release on Saturday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal stated that Dahal would be leaving for India on May 31, at the cordial invitation of his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi.
Dahal will be embarking on the trip along with his daughter, Ganga Dahal, and various other dignitaries and high-ranking officers.
“The Prime Minister will be accompanied by his daughter Ganga Dahal,” reads the press release. “The entourage of the Prime Minister will comprise ministers, secretaries, and senior officials of the Government of Nepal.”
During the visit, Dahal will also address the Nepal-India Business Summit in New Delhi, to be jointly organised by the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the ministry said.
According to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, Prime Minister Dahal will also make courtesy calls on Indian President Droupadi Murmu and Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar.
“In addition to the official engagements, Prime Minister Dahal will also be visiting Ujjain and Indore as part of his visit,” the release from the Indian side further reads.
This is Prime Minister Dahal’s fourth visit to the southern neighbour in his three terms as the country’s premier.
The visit is expected to further strengthen the age-old, multifaceted, and cordial relations between Nepal and India.
