The Spokesperson for the government and Minister for Communication and Information Technology Rekha Sharma said on Saturday that no one can protect anyone involved in the fake Bhutanese refugee scam.
While addressing the annual general meeting of the Corporate Provincial Committee of the Press Centre Nepal in Kathmandu on Saturday, Sharma said in the fake Bhutanese refugee scam, “the situation has developed in such a way that nobody can save anyone, if a person is found involved in it, one way or the other.”
“If we are found guilty, it is guaranteed that we will be punished. Nobody is going to protect anyone,” Sharma added.
Sharma claimed that the Maoist ministers were relatively untainted compared to those belonging to other parties.
“In his third tenure as the prime minister, he (Pushpa Kamal Dahal) has been taking each step very cautiously, learning from his past mistakes,” said Sharma.
Separately, she also revealed that the government is currently not in a position to pay for the public service advertisements given the resource crunch, but is working to mobilise the funds for the advertisements.
During the meeting, the in-charge of Press Centre Nepal, the journalist's wing of CPN (Maoist Centre), Maheswar Dahal and its chairperson Bishnu Sapkota lamented on how the Maoist Centre-led government was facing attacks from various sides, despite its efforts to contain corruption.
