The Bibeksheel Sajha Party has urged the government to take the investigation into the fake Bhutanese refugee case to a logical conclusion through a fair and independent investigation.
Issuing a statement on Friday, Samikchya Baskota, the party’s chairperson, in a statement on Friday, said a grave situation may emerge if any guilty person is given immunity based on political allegiance.
Baskota has thanked the government for bringing high-ranking officials and senior politicians under the ambit of investigation.
“The party urges the government to take the case to a meaningful conclusion and prosecute the culprits by not being influenced by any pressure and political bargaining.”
The party also demanded that the government investigate the finance ministry’s CCTV footage scandal that took place during the budget preparations a year ago, security printing press procurement scandal, Omni case, Yeti case, and Lalita Niwas land scam, among others and bring the guilty to book.
Nepal Police is investigating the fake refugee scam in which scores of people were duped of millions of rupees. Police have so far arrested 12 people including former home minister Bal Krishna Khand in connection with the scam.
Former deputy prime minister and sitting lawmaker Top Bahadur Rayamajhi has been absconding after police issued an arrest warrant against him while his son has already been arrested.
