US ambassador visits Khumbu region

The United States Ambassador to Nepal Dean R Thompson on Monday visited Khumbu region to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the first American to summit Mt Everest.
American national Jim Whittaker had summitted Mt Everest on May 1, 1963.
According to a statement issued following the US ambassador’s visit, Thompson also met Kanchha Sherpa, the last survivor from the first ascent of Mount Everest.
Thompson, during the visit, met with members of local communities, businesses, the US-Nepal Friendship Expedition team-II and local youths.
