Flydubai aircraft 'suffers bird strike', lands safely in Dubai

An aircraft of Flydubai that had 'suffered a bird strike' while taking off from the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu on Monday night landed safely in Dubai.
Government of Dubai Media Office in a Facebook post, quoting a spokesperson of the airline, said the aircraft landed at 12:11am (local time) at the Dubai International Airport.
“Our experienced flight crew followed standard operating procedure and continued the onward journey after determining that the engine was within normal operating parameters,” the spokesperson for the company said.
Flydubai said a further inspection will be conducted.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft with 167 passengers on board that took off at 9:19pm had noticed a fire in one of its engines.
According to Pratap Babu Tiwari, general manager of Tribhuvan International Airport, the aircraft hold over the skies in Dhading for a few minutes and proceeded to the destination after all indicators were normal.

The airport resumed normal operations at 9:59pm, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal.
