Non-essential vehicles barred from operating on by-polls day
Chitwan and Tanahun to close highways; long-haul vehicles allowed in Bara.Post Report
All non-essential vehicles will be barred from operating in Chitwan-2, Tanahun-1 and Bara-2 during by-elections on Sunday.
Issuing a notice, Chitwan District Administration Office said all vehicular movement except for the essential ones will be banned in the constituency from 6am to 6pm.
The decision will hit passengers travelling to different parts of the country through the East-West highway, Narayanghat-Mugling road section and Chitwan stretch of Prithvi highway.
Earlier the district administration office had said it would allow the operation of long-route vehicles.
Likewise, the stretch of Prithvi highway under Tanahun-1 will be closed on Sunday for a by-election in the constituency.
In a notice, Tanahun District Administration Office said non-essential vehicles would be barred from plying on the Prithvi highway and the inner road sections in Tanahun-1 from 5am to 6 pm on the polling day.
The district administration office has requested night buses operating through the district to cross the district before 4am tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the Bara District Administration Office said it will allow long-haul vehicles to operate in Bara-2 on the by-polls day.
In a notice, the administration office said long-route vehicles plying through the Dhansar-Pathlaiya stretch of the East-West highway and the Birgunj-Pathlaiya road section of the Tribhuvan highway will be allowed to operate.
According to the notice, all vehicles operating locally will be barred from 4am to 7pm.
