Cabinet decides to caution Mayor Shah to act responsibly

The government has decided to caution Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah, to act responsibly.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers, held on Tuesday at the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers at Singha Durbar, decided to caution Mayor Shah to work by realising his responsibility stating that the local level is responsible for the collection of garbage in Kathmandu Valley.
The meeting also decided to urge Mayor Shah to comply in accordance with the policy system stating that the KMC mayor's statement of not collecting garbage from Sheetal Niwas, Baluwatar and Singha Durbar was inappropriate.
Minister of Communication and Information Technology Rekha Sharma, who is also the government spokesperson, said that the remarks made by the Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolis on not picking up waste from Singha Durbar, Baluwatar and Sheetal Niwas is against the policy.
Talking to media persons following the meeting, Minister Sharma said that the Cabinet meeting decided to urge the metropolis to collect the garbage adding that discussions were held to draw the attention of the Mayor to comply with the policy if the garbage is not collected.
