Government announces cash reward for the national men’s cricket team

The government has announced a cash reward to each player of the Nepali national men’s cricket team for securing a spot in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifiers.
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal met with the national team at his residence early on Friday and announced a reward of Rs300,000 per player.
Earlier, the government had awarded Rs200,000 to each player of the national team for their unprecedented run in the tri-series of ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2, including Namibia and Scotland.
Similarly, the Bagmati province government has also announced a reward of Rs100,000 per player for earning an automatic berth at the World Cup Qualifiers.
“The province government has decided to give each player of the national team Rs100,000, as a token of appreciation and to boost their morale,” said Bagmati province Chief Minister Shalikram Jamkattel.
The Nepali national men’s cricket team on Thursday completed a miraculous comeback, winning 11 of the 12 matches played in a span of a month, to accomplish their mission of earning an automatic berth at the World Cup Qualifiers. On the day, they edged the United Arab Emirates by nine runs on D/L method at TU ground in Kirtipur.
