An appeal filed by proprietors of 53 manpower agencies in the Supreme Court against the decision made by the Foreign Employment Tribunal is under consideration for a year.
The tribunal on February 22, 2000, had announced six months in jail and Rs100,000 fine against them. They had moved the apex court against the verdict.
The proprietors were pronounced guilty of presenting fake documents to obtain permits from the Department of Foreign Employment.
