Prime Minister Dahal to leave for Qatar on Friday
The prime minister, on his first foreign trip after taking charge of his office, will attend the Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries.Post Report
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal is leaving for Qatar on Friday to attend the Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries.
According to Sewa Lamsal, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the prime minister will be in Qatar till Monday.
This will be the first foreign trip by the prime minister after assuming his office on December 25 last year.
Foreign Minister Bimala Rai Paudyal will also be attending the conference. Paudyal, who is leaving for Geneva to attend the 50th regular session of the Human Rights Council on Sunday, will join the LDC conference on her way back home.
This year's theme of the conference scheduled for March 5-9 is ‘From Potential to Prosperity’ where, world leaders will gather with the private sector, civil society, parliamentarians and youths.
It is expected that at the conference, specific initiatives and concrete deliverables will be announced that will address LDC-specific challenges including the climate crisis and environmental degradation.
