UML solicits votes from Unified Socialist for Nembang
UML reaches out to the splinter party to canvass votes as per the decision of the secretariat meeting.
Post Report
The CPN-UML has written to the CPN (Unified Socialist) requesting the party to support its presidential candidate.
UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli on Saturday wrote a formal letter addressing Unified Socialist Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal in a bid to solicit votes for Subas Nembang, the party’s candidate in the election race.
“Subas Nembang is a very competent and appropriate candidate for the post of President in accordance with the spirit of the constitution. I sincerely request your party to vote in favour of Nembang with full confidence,” reads the letter.
The letter to the splinter party mentions that the candidacy was filed as per an agreement forged during the government formation on December 25 last year. However, the Unified Socialist was not the part of the coalition.
A secretariat meeting of the UML held on Saturday morning had decided to reach out to other parties, except Congress, to solicit votes for Nembang.
Nembang registered his candidacy at the Office of the Election Officer at New Baneshwar.
Nembang’s candidacy was proposed by UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, Deputy General Secretary Prithvi Subba Gurung, secretaries Gokarna Raj Bista, Raghubir Mahaseth, and Chhabilal Bishwakarma.
Other leaders of the same party Yogesh Bhattarai, Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Juli Kumari Mahaseth, Dil Kumari Rawal Thapa, and Aman Kumar Maskey have seconded the proposal.
