Subas Nembang files candidacy for President

CPN-UML’s vice-chair Subas Nembang has filed his candidacy for the presidential election.
Nembang registered his candidacy at the Office of the Election Officer at New Baneshwar on Saturday.
Nembang’s candidacy was proposed by UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, Deputy General Secretary Prithvi Subba Gurung, secretaries Gokarna Raj Bista, Raghubir Mahaseth, and Chhabilal Bishwakarma.
Other leaders of the same party Yogesh Bhattarai, Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Juli Kumari Mahaseth, Dil Kumari Rawal Thapa, and Aman Kumar Maskey have seconded the proposal.
A meeting of the CPN-UML’s central secretariat on Saturday took the decision to field party vice-chair Subas Nembang as its presidential candidate for the upcoming presidential election that is scheduled for March 9.
The meeting of the party’s secretariat also decided to reach out to other parties, except Congress, to solicit votes for Nembang.
Nembang is a former speaker.
On the other hand, the Nepali Congress has selected party’s senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel as their candidate in the presidential race.
A total of eight political parties on Friday agreed to support the Nepali Congress candidate in the presidential election scheduled for March 9.
The Congress candidate will be supported by four ruling parties—the CPN (Maoist Centre), the Janata Samajbadi Party, the Janamat Party, and the Nagarik Unmukti Party, while the three parties in the opposition— the CPN (Unified Socialist), Loktantrik Samajbadi Party and Rastriya Janamorcha—will also support the party for its presidential bid.
