The government has decided to keep offices providing essential services open even during public holidays.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Thursday decided to that end, said Minister for Communications and Informational Technology Rekha Sharma while unveiling the Cabinet decision on Friday.

She said it is yet to be determined which government offices will be opened on what type of public holidays, adding the Cabinet’s administrative committee will finalise it.

“It has been decided that the ministries and agencies that are considered important for service delivery will also work on holidays. The offices will run by providing substitute leaves to employees,” said Sharma. “The committee will list the offices to be opened on holidays.”
