The regulation drafting committee of the House of Representatives has endorsed the draft of the regulations for the operation of the lower house.
A meeting of the committee held on Thursday endorsed the draft after finalising the provisions on what to do if an impeachment motion is filed against president, vice president and office-bearers of constitutional bodies at the end of their term, said Subash Nembang, UML’s deputy parliamentary party leader.
The committee agreed to take the impeachment motion to a conclusion within five months and if the motion could not be concluded due to lack of time, it has been arranged that the new Parliament will take the necessary decision.
The regulation will be implemented after the House of Representatives endorses it.
A meeting of the committee held on Wednesday had agreed to include a provision in the House regulations to suspend parliamentarians when they are sent to jail for judicial custody by a court on charges of criminal offences such as murder, rape, narcotic smuggling and robbery.
