The 200-year old relation between Nepal and Britain is unique, said the SpeakerPost Report
British Ambassador to Nepal Nicola Pollitt, on Monday, made a courtesy call to the Speaker of the House of Representatives Dev Raj Ghimire.
The meeting, held at the parliament secretariat office at Singhadurbar, was centred around strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries. The two sides also shared their parliamentary experiences with each other, according to the parliament secretariat.
Stating that the bilateral relations between Nepal and Britain are not limited to government-to-government relations but also to a people-to-people connection, Ghimire stressed the need to further strengthen the multidimensional relations between the two countries.
“The 200-year old relation between the two countries is unique. For world peace and development, we walk together,” the secretariat quoted Ghimire as saying during the meeting.
He also stressed the need to further increase the exchange activities between the two countries.
Pollitt informed the officials that preparations were underway for a high-level visit to Nepal from the United Kingdom. She expressed her willingness to support Nepal’s parliament in lawmaking processes.
Ghimire had previously held meetings with the Ambassadors of India and China, following his election as the Speaker.
