Corruption case filed against government witness

A corruption case has been filed at the Special Court against a government employee Bhavna Mahat for recording a false statement.
Mahat, who had been presented as a government witness in the corruption case involving Lekha Paneru Mahat, a former employee of Taplejung-based Land Revenue Department, for embezzlement of Rs150,000, was accused of taking bribes and recording false statements.
According to a statement issued by Shyam Prasad Bhandari, spokesperson for the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority, the Commission during the investigation had discovered that the statement given by Mahat was contrary to their findings, following which a corruption case was filed at the Special Court.
