Graft case filed against National Land Commission officer
CIAA has charged the officer with amassing property worth Rs10 million through illegal means.Post Report
The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Friday filed a corruption case at the Special Court against Ganesh Prasad Pokharel, an officer at the National Land Commission, on the charge of acquiring property over Rs10 million through illegal means.
The anti-graft body had launched a probe into property registered under Pokharel and his family gained during his entry into government service in July 1989 till February 2022. During the investigation, the authorities looked into Pokharel’s assets and various sources of income.
CIAA, during the investigation, found Pokharel and his family have property worth Rs43.78 million, out of which the source of assets worth Rs33.15 million was only established, said Shyam Prasad Bhandari, spokesperson of CIAA.
The anti-corruption body has sought a two-year imprisonment and a fine equal to the misappropriated amount.
CIAA has also named Pokharel’s wife as a defendant in the case, seeking a court’s order to confiscate all properties registered under her name.
