The Loktantrik Samajbadi Party has decided to extend its support to the Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led government.
Leader Keshav Jha said the party will vote in favour of a confidence motion to be tabled by the prime minister.
“A meeting of the party had given authority to Chairman Mahanta Thakur to decide on the matter,” said Jha. “We have decided to vote in favour of the trust motion as some of our issues have been incorporated in the common minimum program unveiled by the ruling coalition.”
The party has four members in the House of Representatives.
Earlier today, a secretariat meeting of the CPN (Unified Socialist) decided to conditionally support the government.
Prime Minister Dahal is seeking a vote of confidence in today’s meeting of the parliament rescheduled for 1pm as per the constitutional provision.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari appointed CPN (Maoist Centre) chair Dahal as prime minister on December 25 after he showed the support of 169 lawmakers. As per the constitutional provision, a prime minister appointed under Article 76(2) needs to secure a vote of confidence from the parliament within 30 days of the appointment.
