Two killed as fire engulfs house in Panchthar

Two persons died when a fire engulfed a house in Phidim Municipality-8 of Panchthar district on Tuesday night.
According to police, the fire that broke out at the house of local Megh Bahadur Gurung killed his 22-year-old daughter and 23-year-old daughter-in-law.
55-year-old Gurung and his son Bijendra Gurung were injured in the fire and are receiving treatment at Panchthar Hospital.
Out of seven persons who slept in the house, two persons died, two others were injured, while three persons managed to escape the flames, said Deputy Superintendent of Police, Hari Khatiwada, Chief of Panchthar District Police Office.
A team led by DSP Khatiwada reached the incident site from Panchthar District Police Office for a rescue operation and to douse the fire.
The fire is said to have damaged property worth Rs5 million, police said, adding the cause for the fire is unknown.
