Federal affairs ministry tops list of ministries with most corruption complaints
More than 3,000 complaints were registered with the anti-graft agency against the ministry and its offices in the last fiscal year.Durga Dulal
The Ministry of Land Management, Co-operatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration received the most complaints alleging irregularities among federal ministries last fiscal year, according to the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority.
A total of 3,036 complaints related to the ministry were registered with the anti-graft agency in fiscal year 2025-26, according to its annual report. The complaints accounted for more than 19 percent of the 15,512 complaints registered against federal government agencies during the year, said Suresh Neupane, spokesperson for CIAA.
The Ministry of Education and Sports followed with 1,983 complaints. The Home Ministry was the subject of 1,757 complaints, while 1,095 complaints were related to the Ministry of Infrastructure Development.
The Commission received 877 complaints concerning the Ministry of Finance and 816 against the Ministry of Health and Food Safety. The Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation was the subject of 657 complaints, while 563 complaints concerned the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.
Similarly, 548 complaints were registered against the Ministry of Agriculture, Forests and Environment, and 399 against the Ministry of Information and Communications.
A further 3,781 complaints were related to other federal ministries and agencies, according to the commission's annual report.
The commission submitted its 469-page annual report to President Ramchandra Paudel on Thursday. The report provides separate details of complaints and investigations concerning the federal, provincial and local levels.
