Pashupati Shumsher Rana, the oldest member of the House of Representatives, has called an all-party meeting for Friday.
Rana has called the meeting at 1 pm to decide the agenda for the first meeting of the House scheduled for January 9.
Whips and representatives from all the parliamentary parties have been called for the meeting.
As the oldest member, Rana has been chairing the lower house meetings until the Speaker is elected. As per the parliamentary regulations, the House of Representatives shall elect its Speaker within 15 days of its first meeting.
Seven parties have secured the status of the national party in the 275-member House. Nepali Congress is the largest party with 89 seats followed by the CPN-UML with 78 seats. Similarly, the CPN (Maoist Centre) has 32 seats, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) 20, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) 14, Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) 12 and Janamat Party six.
Meanwhile, Maoist Centre is leading the government with the support of UML, RSP, RPP, JSP, Janamat Party and Nagarik Unmukti Party.
