Several businessmen and various truck associations protested at Belhiya checkpoint in Rupandehi district on Friday against the movement of overloaded Indian trucks.
They said Indian trucks have been carrying loads up to three times more than the legal limit. Businessmen organised a protest march from the truck parking lot in Belhia to the customs office at the border chanting slogans.
Stating that carrying weight beyond capacity by trucks is illegal and causes accidents, the protestors have demanded that the authorities conduct regular checks to prevent overloading.
