Election Commission submits final results of House of Representatives elections to President

The Election Commission on Thursday submitted the final results of the House of Representatives elections to President Bidya Devi Bhandari.
Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya along with officials from the commission reached the Sheetal Niwas to present the election results to the president.
The submission of the poll results to the President has opened the way for government formation.
The poll body, amid a press conference on Wednesday, had announced the final results of the House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly members’ elections.
As per the constitutional provision, the Commission sends the election results report, under both First-Past-The-Post and Proportional Representation, of the House of Representatives to the President and the Provincial Assembly members’ results to the provincial heads within seven days of the announcement.
The commission officials are set to send the report of the results of the provincial election to the provincial heads of the provinces on Saturday.
The list of elected members will be published in the Nepal Gazette after the report of the House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly members elections 2022 has been received by the president and provincial heads.
According to the election results report, a total of 825 people were elected—275 to the House of Representatives and 550 to the seven provincial assemblies.
The report mentions that 184 men (66.90 percent) and 91 women (33.10 percent) have been elected to the House of Representatives and 350 men (63.64 percent) and 200 women (36.36 percent) to the seven provincial assemblies.
