Nepal sends diplomatic note to India over embankment construction row

Nepal sent a diplomatic note to India on Tuesday following disputes in Darchula over the construction of an embankment in the Nepal-India border area.
Scuffles broke out between Nepali and Indian citizens in Darchula on Sunday after
Bangabagar locals raised objections to the embankment construction and closed the door of a suspension bridge that connects Nepal and India.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent a diplomatic note to the government of India for a joint inspection of the site in order to settle the dispute.
Sewa Lamsal, spokesperson at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed to the Post that the diplomatic note has been sent through the Embassy of India regarding the embankment row. “Whatever report we had received from the ground through the Ministry of Home Affairs and what happened on Sunday and Monday was mentioned in the note,” said Lamsal.
