EC officials, CoAS Sharma discuss election security
A total of 75,000 Nepal Army personnel will be deployed in the outer ring for the November 20 polls.

Officials at the Election Commission on Friday discussed security arrangements for the federal and provincial elections with the Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Prabhu Ram Sharma.
During the meeting, Nepal Army chief Sharma informed the officials about work being done by the Nepal Army for election security, according to EC.
CoAS Sharma said tight security was in place based on the on-site inspection and information received so far. He added that the army was ready to play its role to ensure that the elections are held in a safe environment.
Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya lauded the support received from the Nepal Army in printing and transporting election materials to the remote Himalayan districts.
The meeting that was also attended by Election Commissioners Ishwari Prasad Paudyal, Ram Prasad Bhandari and Sagun Shamsher JBR dwelt on the role of the Nepal Army in the preparation of the election, compliance with the election code of conduct and election security.
A total of 75,000 Nepal Army will be deployed in the outer ring for the November 20 polls.
According to Home Ministry sources, the government is preparing to deploy a total of around 300,000 security personnel.
