Apex court issues interlocutory interim order against Media Hub’s decision to charge extra for world cup viewing

The Supreme Court has issued an interlocutory interim order not to take extra charge from customers to watch the upcoming football world cup.
Hearing on a writ petition, a single bench of Justice Prakashman Singh Raut, on Tuesday, issued the order against Media Hub Pvt Ltd not to implement its decision to charge Rs 500 extra to customers to watch the world cup.
The private company has secured the transmission rights for the FIFA World Cup 2022 being held in Qatar from November 20.
Following the company’s decision to take extra charges, advocates Kishor Poudel and Anupam Bhattarai had filed a writ petition at the apex court.
Poudel informed that the petition was filed in an effort to stop the company from taking extra charges unlawfully.
Meanwhile, Media Hub has been saying that they are taking the extra charge as they secured the transmission rights after paying Rs 400 million.
