Prime minister changes three Janata Samajbadi ministers
Rajendra Shrestha, however, to continue.Post Report
President Bidya Devi Bhandari has reshuffled the Cabinet, inducting three ministers from the Janata Samajbadi Party as recommended by the prime minister on Monday.
The Cabinet reshuffle has come at a time when the two top leaders of the Janata Samajbadi Party—chairman Upendra Yadav and federal council chair Baburam Bhattarai–have agreed to part ways amicably.
“President Bhandari has reshuffled the Cabinet led by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on his recommendation,” states a statement issued by the President’s Office on Monday.
As per the new arrangements, Mohammad Ishtiyaq Rayi will replace Renu Yadav as minister for physical infrastructure and transport, Pradip Yadav will replace Ramsahay Prasad Yadav as minister for forest and environment and Mrigendra Singh Yadav will replace Mahendra Rai Yadav as minister for agriculture and livestock development.
The Janata Samajbadi Party has four ministers in the Deuba Cabinet.
However, party chair Yadav has decided not to recall Rajendra Shrestha, minister for federal affairs and general administration.
On Sunday, Yadav had presented the list of the new ministers to Prime Minister Deuba.
Rayi, Pradip and Mrigendra were said to have been with the Bhattarai faction until they switched sides recently.
Mrigendra Singh Yadav is a member of the National Assembly.
According to officials at the President’s office, the President will administer the oath of office and secrecy to the three new ministers later on Monday.
