Police searching for Richard Morris, a British diplomat who served as an ambassador to Nepal from 2015 to 2019, have found a body in a forest in Hampshire, according to the BBC.

Police had been searching for Morris since he was last seen running in Alton, Hampshire on the morning of May 6.

Before his disappearance he was appointed British High Commissioner to Fiji.

According to the BBC, formal identification has not yet taken place, but the 52-year-old's family have been notified.

“Hampshire Constabulary said officers had discovered a body in Alice Holt Forest and the death was not being treated as suspicious,” the BBC reported.

He was born on November 1, 1967 in Worcestershire. He married Alison in 1992 and they have one daughter and two sons.

Morris had worked also as head of the Pacific department at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, consul general in Sydney as well as director general of trade and investment in Australasia, according to his biography on British government website.

It was during Morris’ tenure as the UK ambassador to Nepal, British Prince Harry visited Nepal in March 2016.

During his visit from March 20-23, 2016, Prince Harry met with those affected by the 2015 earthquakes to learn about efforts being made to restore buildings of historic significance and to assist disaster preparedness.
