US cancels Diversity Visa and nonimmigrant visa appointments in the wake of Covid-19 outbreak

The United States has temporarily cancelled the Diversity Visa and nonimmigrant visa appointments amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Issuing a notice on Monday, the US Embassy in Kathmandu said the service would be cancelled from Tuesday. “As of March 17, 2020, the United States Embassy in Kathmandu, Nepal is cancelling routine Diversity Visa and nonimmigrant visa appointments,” reads the notice.
The visa service would resume as soon as possible, according to the notice. However, the embassy has not given a specific date.
“The MRV (Machine Readable Visa) fee is valid and may be used for a visa application in the country where it was purchased within one year of the date of payment,” reads the notice.
