JANAKPUR: Police have arrested Mukush Goit, 24, of Sahidnagar Municipality-1 in Dhanusha district on charge of burning his wife alive. Goit’s sister-in-law Shyama Devi has also been arrested for abetting in the crime. The suspects were made public by organising a press meet at the District Police Office on Thursday. Preliminary investigation showed that Goit set his wife Nirmala Yadav ablaze after dousing petrol on her on April 8. Nirmala succumbed to burn injuries in a Kathmandu-based hospital 10 days later. Goit was arrested from Kanchanpur district in Sudurpaschim Province on Tuesday and brought to Dhanusha. Shyama Devi was held as per the Goit’s statement, said Superintendent of Police Shikhar Khanal.
