Five persons died when a passenger jeep fell over a cliff at Nisdi Rural Municipality-7 of Palpa district on Monday.
The vehicle with registration number Lu 1 Ja 1941 swerved off the road and plunged approximately 500 metres below at Jyamire. It was heading to Huwas from Mityal when the fatal crash took place.
The deceased have been identified as jeep driver Buddibal Chidi Magar, Khadag Bahadur Somai and Devilal Khangaha of Charghare, and Lal Bahadur Saru and Santa Bahadur Saru of Huwas.
The incident site is about 60km east of Tansen, the district headquarters of Palpa. The track where the accident occurred was opened just a year ago by cutting hard rock. The security personnel from Rampur and Mityal were deployed to rescue the victims after the accident. The rescuers are yet to retrieve the bodies as they were stuck in the cliff.
