KANCHANPUR: Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Ishwor Pokharel has vowed to increase the social security allowance in the upcoming budget for the fiscal year 2019/20. “The present government will increase the elderly allowance to Rs 5,000 within five years. The commitment expressed during elections and mentioned in election manifestos will be fulfilled,” said Pokharel, a senior leader of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), at a programme in Bedkot, Kanchanpur, on Sunday. The NCP had pledged to increase the social security allowance to Rs 5,000 from the present Rs 2,000 during their poll campaign. (PR)
