Parsa police is investigating into an alleged suicide pact forged by three teenagers that led to the death of one girl on Monday.
Anantaram Sharma, spokesperson of Parsa District Police Office, said the trio, a boy and two girls, had reportedly left their village in Jira Bhawani Rural Municipality-4 with a group of boys on Sunday, and the following day, they were found unconscious in a house in Sadhi village.
Sangita Kumari, 18, died shortly after she was admitted to a hospital in Inarwa, India. Doctors found poison traces in her system.
Sangita’s two friends recovered at the same hospital and they are currently being questioned by investigators, Sharma said.
It is still not clear if the three friends had attempted to commit group suicide or someone had poisoned them.
Police are also questioning the teenagers’ parents and friends.
In a separate incident, two persons died in separate incidents of suicide in Saptari district on Wednesday. Police said Mala Chaudhary, 26, of Piprapurba in Kanchanrup Municipality-5 was found hanging from a tree behind her house, while Gautam Yadav of Tirahut Rural Municipality-5 was found hanging from the ceiling of his rented room at Rajbiraj Municipality-3. According to the data of the District Police Office, nine people committed suicide in the district in the last month.
