Senior orthopedic surgeon at the Maharajgunj-based Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital Dr Govinda KC has ended his 16th hunger strike on the 24th day, on Friday. He, however, expressed that he would continue his protests in a different way for reforms in Medical Education Bill.
KC said that he would not accept the bill that was forcefully endorsed by the Parliament.
Ending his hunger strike, the anti-graft crusader accused the government and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli of lacking trust and personal dignity.

Saying that the government has shown an authoritarian tendency while endorsing the bill, KC said: “We will not accept the bill that was forcefully endorsed.”
The bill has already been endorsed from the federal House of Representatives and National Assembly by a majority.
Former President Ram Baran Yadav, former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and former Chief Justice Sushila Karki among others had separately met KC and urged him to end his hunger strike.
KC broke his fast by drinking juice offered by former Chief Justice Karki and former Speaker Damannath Dhungana at the hospital.
KC begun his 16th hunger strike in Ilam from January 9 after the government failed to endorse the Medical Education Bill in line with the agreement signed with him earlier. Later, he was brought to Kathmandu after his health deteriorated.
