Police have arrested two men in possession of Rs 1.35 million and 4,300 Chinese yuan. The duo was held on Thursday night after they failed to provide the source of the cash.
Indian national Chhiring Dorje and Chinese national Panchaudi were arrested from Tusal, Bouddha, according to the Nepal Police headquarters in Kathmandu.
A team from the Metropolitan Police Circle, Bouddha, had found the unsourced currencies during an inspection.
Police also recovered a Buddha idol weighing approximately 1.5 kg from the scooter (Ba 64 Pa 1109) that Dorje was riding.
The money was found from the bag of Panchaudi, who was riding pillion with Dorje.
In a separate incident, police arrested a man with 50 gram hashish and controlled prescription drugs—122 ampoules of Nitrovet, 16 units of Spas and two bottles of Diles—from Nagdhunga of Chandragiri Municipality-2 in Kathmandu on Friday. Kiran Ayer, 20, of Krishnapur Municipality-8, Kanchanpur was nabbed with the contraband from a bus coming to Kathmandu from Kailali.
Similarly, three persons were caught on Thursday with brown heroin from Samakhusi, Kathmandu. Those arrested are Barsha Kunwar, Bhuwan Karki and Anil Joshi of Tikapur Municipality-1, Kailali.
