Three persons were found dead in Jumlawang, Musikot Municipality-12 of Rukum West on Monday.
The deceased have been identified as Khumbu Kami, 63, of Magarrangja, Sano Bheri Rural Municipality-9, Kaman Singh Sarki, 54, of Bhalakcha Lanhu, Musikot Municipality-11 and Pal Bahadur BK, 21, of Nayagaun, Musikot Municipality-12.
According to DSP Sumit Khadka of the District Police Office, Rukum, the trio, who had gone to bed after eating food and consuming booze during the wedding ceremony of Amar BK’s son on Sunday, were found dead today. Police said that they had slept at the wedding house.
Preliminary investigation suggests that they might have died due to consumption of toxic liquor, DSP Khadka said.
“I along with a team of doctors reached the site soon after the incident,” DSP Khadka told the Post over phone, adding, “The deceased had consumed the alcohol somewhere else and not the alcohol served in the wedding house.”
Ward Chairman Prem Oli had informed the police this morning after the trio did not wake up.
Three among the five persons who had slept in the same room were found dead, police said.
The alcohol the trio had consumed was found to be different from the alcohol the two others had consumed, DSP Khadka said.
Police said that they are looking into the case.
