The Supreme Court has quashed a writ petition claiming that CK Raut, the coordinator of Free Madhes Campaign, was illegally held in custody.
A joint bench of SC Justices Deepak Raj Joshee and Bam Kumar Shrestha on Monday scrapped the habeas corpus writ petition filed by Raut's supporters and ordered Raut be handed over to the custody of Gaur Police.
A case of organised crime against the state is subjudice against Raut at the District Court, Rautahat.
Raut, who was arrested in Rautahat on October 7, was brought to Kathmandu and presented before the SC on November 15 after his supporters filed a habeas corpus petition.
