Former Chief Justice Kedar Prasad Giri passes away

The first Chief Justice after the restoration of democracy following 2006 people’s movement, Kedar Prasad Giri passed away on Friday. He was undergoing treatment at Thapathali-based Norvic Hospital, Kathmandu.
Giri had served as the Chief Justice from October 5, 2007 to May 7, 2009.
According to Supreme Court joint spokesperson Nagendra Kalakheti, Giri was declared dead at 2:30 pm. His body has been taken to Pashupati Aryaghat for cremation.
The apex court will remain shut on Sunday to mourn the former Chief Justice’s demise.
