Police on Tuesday arrested an editor of an online portal for publishing false and misleading news story regarding the health condition of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, police confirmed.
According to Nepal Police website, editor of Pathibhara Online Hari Prasad Manandhar, 46, a permanent resident of Harinath Rural Municipality-6, Syangja, and currently residing in Kageshwori Manahara Municipality-8, Kathmandu, was arrested for publishing false and misleading news story regarding Oli's health.
PM Oli was rushed to Manmohan Cardiothoracic Vascular and Transplant Centre of Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu at 4:30am on Monday after he developed a chest infection and had difficulty in breathing.
Doctors involved in his treatment said that he was suffering from lower respiratory tract infection and is undergoing treatment at the Coronary Care Unit.
Since then, the health condition of PM Oli has improved and he might be discharged in a couple of days, said doctors.
A case has been registered against Manandhar under the Electronic Transaction Act (2004), informed Metropolitan Police Crime Division, Teku.
