A man, wanted for a rape case in Terathum district, was arrested from Kathmandu on Monday one year after the incident.
According to police, Shankar Thapa, 54, of Musangkhel in Laligurans Municipality-3, accused of raping a minor multiple times, has been taken to Terathum following his arrest.
Thapa had been absconding after the victim’s mother filed a complaint against him at the Area Police Office, Basantapur for raping the underage girl on October 13, 2017.
DSP Tek Bahadur Karki informed that Thapa was arrested from Gaushala in the Capital with the assistance of Nepal Police’s Central Intelligence Bureau on Friday (September 28).
Police have lodged a rape case against the accused and further investigation into the matter is underway.
