Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena arrived in Kathmandu to take part in the 4th Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) summit on Wednesday.
Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Ishwor Pokharel welcomed him at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).The BIMSTEC is taking place in Kathmandu on August 30 and 31.
Myanmar's President Win Myint and LyonpoTsering Wangchuk had arrived earlier in Kathmandu on Tuesday and Wednesday morning respectively.
Heads of state of Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Myanmar and Bhutan will take part in the summit.
BIMSTEC was established in 1997. The BIMSTEC meet was kicked off in Thailand in 1997, followed by India in 2008, Myanmar (2014).
