Police have arrested a person with a pangolin scale while he was out to sell the cover of the endangered species in Bhimeshwor Municipality in Dolakha.
According District Police Chief Basudev Pathak, Hom Bahadur Thapa, 53, a resident of Bhimeshwor-6, was held with the pangolin scale at Makaibari, Bhimeshwor-7. The anteater mammals live in Khorthali forest near the district headquarters, Charikot.
Thapa, in his statement to the police, said he killed the pangolin two years ago when he spotted the creature at a field nearby his home and kept its hide and scale. A case under Wildlife Protection Act has been lodged against him, police said.
The pangolin scales are known for their aphrodisiac and medicinal values.
