Landslide buries 2 houses, 108 houses at risk

The landslide that came from three kilometers above Ghodena Village damaged 52 houses in Molpha Bazaar while 56 houses are at risk, Chief at the District Police Office, Kalikot, Binod Sharm said.
As many as 11 dozen houses of Ghodema and 22 houses of Molpha Bazaar were buried in a landslide that occurred 11 years ago in the same place.
According to Dan Bahadur Sejuwal, Principal at the Bhim Hari Primary School, the whole Molpha Bazaar is on the verge of being swept away due to the incessant rainfall this year.
Inspector Niroj Chaulagain, who was deployed for rescue operation, said that two houses were buried and others houses are at risk due to today’s landslide.
There are around 500 households in Ghodena and Molpha Bazaar.
“We have been facing difficulties as there no safer location to move the villagers,” said Municipality Chief Jasi Prasad Pandey.
District Disaster Management Committee has deployed Nepal Army, Nepal Police personnel and Red Cross officials for the rescue operation, Chief District Officer (CDO) Chandra Bahadur Karki said.
CDO Karki, police Chief Binod Karki and Province Assembly lawmaker Kurma Raj Shahi had reached the incident site to carry out rescue operation, Assistant CDO Raj Kumar Dulal said.
The incident site is 15 km away from Manma, district headquarters of Kalikot.
