Cases of dengue, a mosquito-borne disease more prevalent in Tarai districts, have been reported in Darchula, a hill district in Karnali Province.
Two patients were diagnosed with dengue in Darchula District Hospital recently. The hospital officials said a 32-year-old man from Mahakali Municipality-2 and a nine-year-old girl from Lekam Rural Municipality tested positive for dengue, and were referred to Nepalgunj and Dhanagdhi for treatment.
Though Darchula is a hill district, cases of dengue, malaria and kala-azar are surfacing in the district of late. According to the District Hospital, two cases of malaria, four kala-azar cases and two dengue cases were reported in the last one year. (PR)
