A meeting of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee (PHC) is underway to decide on the appointment of acting Chief Justice (CJ) Deepak Raj Joshee as the Chief Justice.
The meeting is taking place at the office of the PHC in Singha Durbar since this morning.
The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC), on Wednesday, refused to enter into the process aimed to reject acting CJ Joshee as the Chief Justice forcing the committee to remain indecisive whether the CJ nominee is fit for the top judiciary position.
The meeting of the panel has been postponed five times in search for a consensus decision. NCP lawmakers have accused the opposition Nepali Congress of obstructing the verdict of a two-thirds majority of the committee.
Meanwhile, lawmakers from the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) are mulling over impeaching acting CJ Joshee if the PHC is obstructed from deciding his fate
