One person was arrested for allegedly raping a 10-year-old girl at Aathrai Rural Municipality in Terathum.

The police have arrested a 54-year-old man, a resident of Khamlalung, Athrai Rural Municipality-2, for raping the girl at a nearby forest while she was herding cattle.

The incident had occurred on July 21 but came into light only on July 27 when the victim finally told her family members about the incident.

There were efforts to subdue the incident but after the local rights activists got to know about the incident, a complaint was filed with the police.

District Police Office, Terathum SP Basudev Yadav informed that a complaint has been registered against the accused following a medical checkup under the guardianship of Area Police Office, Sankranti.
