Police on Monday night fired 10 rounds of warning shots after a group of timber smugglers tried to attack them with Khukuri.
According to DSP Nishan Thapa, a group of eight to nine timber smugglers tried to attack a police patrol team with the sharp weapon when the latter were trying to stop them from smuggling the timbers at Bagaicha in Kerabari of Morang district.
The timber smugglers fled the scene after police fired warning shots into the air. Police said that they have recovered 7 kg timber and Khukuri, among others things, from the scene.
