DIG-led team to investigate Jumla incident
A team of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) on Monday reached Jumla to investigate into the incident that occurred while taking Dr Govinda KC forcefully to Kathmandu.
A team of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) on Monday reached Jumla to investigate into the incident that occurred while taking Dr Govinda KC, who had been staging fast-unto-death since June 30 at Jumla-based Karnali Academy of Health Sciences, forcefully to Kathmandu.
A three-member team that includes DIG Surendra Bikram Shah, SP Kedar Rajaure and DSP Chudamani Budhathoki reached Jumla Hospital to investigate into the incident.
Doctors and staffers working at the hospital have been demanding that the government carry out fair investigation into the incident and take stern action against the guilty.
Locals have also been demanding that the government should investigate the incident and punish the guilty as the police personnel had resorted to gunfire in the sensitive area like hospital while taking Dr KC to the Capital.
More than two dozen doctors, students and three police personnel were injured in the incident after police resorted to baton charge on the premises of the hospital.
A policeman was seriously injured after he received a bullet on his chest. He is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kathmandu.
