A man killed his elderly father-in-law by hitting him with an iron rod at Biruwa rural municipality of Syangja district.
Khum Bahadur Thapa attacked Mohan Singh Thapa, 78, and his wife Chitra Kumari, 69, with the rod on Sunday evening. Mohan Singh, injured in the attack, died during the course of treatment at Fishtail Hospital in Pokhara. Mohan’s wife Chitra Kumari also sustained injuries but has been discharged from the hospital.
Police had arrested Khum Bahadur following the attack and submitted him to his brother saying he was mentally ill. He, however, was arrested again following Mohan’s death, informed DSP Prakash Bista.
