Two people have been arrested for illegally bringing Indian currency from Krishna Nagar border point in Kapilvastu district on Saturday.

According to the police, Mahendra Ojha of Banbeda, Gauriganga Municipality-6 in Kanchanpur, who is currently running a hotel in Haryana state of India and Rajendra Jad of Kandel district, Haryana have been arrested from Krishnanagar-based link gate along with IRs 1,313,660.

DSP Narendra Karki informed that the duo was hauling the Indian currency under the seat of a car (HR 08 X 6088).

The car driver locked the handle of the car and fled the scene following a security check, informed police.

“We conducted a security check after they (arrestees) were behaving in a suspicious manner,” said DSP Karki, “They were heading for Kathmandu.”
